Tea and Cookies

Chai tea to be precise. I just bribed myself to sit down and write. One thousand words and in return I get tea and ginger snaps. Hey don't judge. Whatever it takes, right?

You see, here I am, poised at the point where I get into the meat and potatoes of my first novel. Unfortunately my poor brain is panicking over the fact that my rough draft seems to be chugging along the track to what appears to be Novella Station. I keep trying to soothe my brain, whispering that it's okay. Maybe I'm a skinny rough draft kinda chick and my first draft will get all fat and happy. We'll see.

So Beautiful Beast is the tentative title of my first book, a contemporary romance. I'm going for short, 50,000 words. In my head, this is geared toward series or category romance. This particular story is inspired by Beauty and the Beast. It's not a simple retelling of the tale but instead perhaps, a parallel universe, in which a lovely but clueless landscape architect named Rose Merchant finds herself shacked up with a broody and wounded Native American named Alex Blackwing.

And they get it on (I did mention this was romance, right?). And there's fudge. Melty, gooey masses of fudge. Oh, and pizza. Melty, gooey... well you get the idea.

Stay tuned. I'm sure my brain will be looking for many excuses to not be writing. :)
